Old School

Old school marks hip-hop's first recorded era, roughly 1979 to the mid-1980s: party rhymes, live-band and drum-machine breaks, from the Sugarhill Gang's breakthrough to Grandmaster Flash and Run-DMC's arrival. It is the genre's founding document.
